Fix Windows 7 Installation Error Code 0xC0000005

Are you experiencing “Error Code 0xC0000005” while trying to install Windows 7 on your hard drive?
Well… your not alone.
Here is the error message as reported by Windows during the installation procedure:
“Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation.
Error Code: 0xC0000005”
Although this error can also be associated with corrupt or missing graphic card drivers, it is usually due some temporary hardware issues. Let’s look at some possible solutions:

First, Check Windows 7 System Requirements

This error can be due to some configuration requirements for you system. You need to double-check your computer’s  hardware configuration against the following Microsoft requirements. If your PC hardware is not up to par, then make sure you upgrade where necessary before continuing:
Microsoft Windows 7 Requirements :
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
If your computer meets the minimum requirements above, then continue on…

Possible Faulty RAM

A common problem which can result in the 0xc0000005 error during Windows 7 installation is faulty RAM. You should run a memory diagnostic test to make sure all your ram is stable:
We recommend: Memtest86+ (Full instructions are available for burning to a bootable CD or running from a thumb drive).
NOTE: You can also remove individual sticks of RAM to check if this solves the error. usually, faulty RAM is due to an individual stick.

Bad Sectors or Corrupt Hard Drive

If you have tried formatting your PC’s hard drive, ran Memtest and your RAM passed the diagnostics, then you could have bad sectors on your hard drive.
Try getting to the Windows recovery console and perform a force of the chkdsk command (chkdsk C: /f). If that doesn’t work, then try using the disk utilities “rescue disc” that comes with most brand name computers or retail hard drives. Run the CD utilities software to do a low level drive repair.
If that still does not solve error code 0xC0000005 during install, you most likely have a bad hard drive that needs to be replaced.
